Tectyl 5401W RC (rust converter) is a milky white liquid based on waterborne chelate polymers. The product does not contain phosphoric acid and can be applied to rusted steel and sandblasted steel surfaces as a pre-coat. The product is compatible with most paints and coating systems such as alkyd, modified alkyd, chlorinated rubber, epoxy, polyurethane, and vinyl based coatings. The product is harmless, does not burn, and after drying forms a flame retardant film.
